It’s now been a week since I sent the email message to the jazz bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as yet there have been no reply’s. I’m not to surprised about this, because they usually book bands about 3 months in advance.
I do think I need to be more pro-active to improve my chances off getting booked, so I’m going to the Jazz bar in Edinburgh next Saturday, meet the guy’s in the band and perhaps give some promotional material to the manager. I will also try and find out what kind of jazz he books, and if he accepts my genre, I will keep in touch, if not, I can take the venue of my list. I’m a relative newcomer on the jazz scene, plus I lean toward a more commercial form of the genre.
The band I’m going to see, is the JB Quartet, the piano player is Jean-Baptiste Richon, which is French, so I’m guessing he is the band leader. There is no online presence, so I can’t tell you much about them, some of these jazz guy’s can be a bit illusive.
I’m also preparing a newsletter for this kind of gig, I’m not going to send it by email, it will be going the old fashioned way, by snail mail.
I Managed to get a pic of Jean-Baptiste Richon.
As always I will keep you posted on my progress.
