#4 My Top Ten Modern Day Crooners: No 2…Harry Connick Jr

Harry Connick Jr, has sold over 28 million albums worldwide, and is ranked among the top 60 best selling male artists in the United States. He’s  had seven top 20 US albums, and ten number-one US jazz albums, earning more number-one albums than any other artist in US jazz chart history.

I like Harry a lot, I first heard him singing in the movie Memphis Bell, he performed an amazing version of the timeless Irish classic Danny Boy. He has stuck with the Jazz genre and has to be applauded, I’m sure there must have been some temptation to crossover along the way. His smooth baritone vocal, is reminiscent of the legendary Nat King Cole.

Despite all his recording success with cover songs and his own material, he is now better known as the actor rather than a singer, I don’t criticise him in this respect, but I would just like to here more from him as the great musician and singer. “you can’t slave for two masters”.
