#6 Song Structure
#6 Song Structure
Probably the most popular form of structure is this; verse/ verse/ chorus/ verse/ verse/ chorus, I find this just to repetitive, but don’t let this stop you, just try to find what works best for your song. This form worked well for me in two recent songs and got favourable comments for the structure, this is how I did it. It started of as verse/ verse/ instrumental/ verse/ verse/ with the hook at the end of each verse, but it just didn’t feel right, so I added a chorus but this was to long, but it ended up as this verse/ verse/ chorus/ instrumental halved/ verse halved/ chorus. One reviewer said this “ I don’t know which part is the chorus, but this doesn’t seem to matter because it is all very catchy” Here is the lyrics and you can check out the song at this link.
Now I’m Watching The Stars
Words & Music by Ronald Simone
Verse 1
Now I’m watching the stars
Since I Saw you yesterday
All it took was just one look
And now I’m blown away
Something inside began to shout
I know what love is about
So heaven look out
Now I’m watching the stars
Verse 2
A star fell from the sky
And sprinkled your hair with gold
One smile put me up for sale
Now I’m bought and sold
I told myself this cant go far
I’m a fool if I don’t kick start
It’s a bolt to the heart
Now I’m watching the stars
Chorus
I love you from my heart
Every minute of every day
I want to hold you close to me
And never let you stray away
So straight from the heart
Now I’m watching the stars
Instrumental
I told myself this cant go far
I’m a fool if I don’t kick start
It’s a bolt to the heart
Now I’m watching the stars
Chorus
Outro
So heaven look out
Now I’m watching the stars
It’s a bolt to the heart
Now I’m watching the stars
Send a message to Mars
Now I’m watching the stars
