#7 Getting Discovered: Social Media; Face Book

If you are not already using face book, you need to start right now, it is such  a huge resource for any musician/artsit who want to find new fans.

Imagine that someone had travelled in time from the 17th century to the 20th century, and he was talking to you, then  he asks,  where are you going with the letter? And you say I’m going to post it, then you show him the big red letter box and you slide the letter into the slot, curiously he asks where is it going, to Australia you say, the answer he might give is this, is there a hole in the ground all the way to Australia, now you need to explain the whole process.

If you are not using face book you are going to be a bit like the time traveller, okay you understand the basics of the web but using it and understanding it, is another thing entirely.

The first step is your home page where you can meet up with your friends and put some names in the search bar at the top left of the page, you may need to give more details for popular names, perhaps the city or town where they live, would narrow it down and send them a friend request. You could also start posting some news about your band, or if you’re an artist some details about yourself and what you’ve been up to. I’m no expert on face book but what is obvious from the start is photographs, take pictures of everything you do, the most popular photo’s have a face in it, this is the phenomenon, that is face book. I’ve always enjoyed photography as a hobby, but to this day I never seem to have enough photo’s to post on face book.

What I have outlined here is only the very beginning of what you need to do, but you need to create a band/celebrity page, now the real fun begins, I will explain why you need this in the next enthralling blog, your still there, are you? Love it or hate it you need to do it!!!!

If you are a complete beginner the link is how get started on face book.
